The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) decided to adopt the recommendations made by Justice RM Lodha committee after holding a Special General Body Meeting in Pune on Saturday (December 30). Earlier in the month, the managing committee of the state association had given its go-ahead in the matter and needed the General Body's approval for the same.
"The MCA has unanimously agreed to implement the Lodha Committee reforms and any further orders that the (Supreme) court may pass in this regard," MCA President Abhay Apte told PTI. "Members were completely unanimous on this issue and I am very happy that members have considered association above their personal interest."
On July 18, 2016, the Supreme Court of India had accepted a majority of the long list of recommendations put forth by the court-appointed three-member panel, led by retired Chief Justice RM Lodha. Also, BCCI had then been handed a deadline of six months to implement the accepted recommendations. Following resistance from the parent body and state boards, the apex court, on October 21 later that year, directed the BCCI to not allocate funds to its state associations until they implemented the Lodha reforms in toto.
The five state associations to have accepted the reforms in toto are Rajasthan, Tripura, Hyderabad, Vidarbha and Andhra.
