India eke out hard-fought win
India eventually closed out a hard-fought game to wrap up the series 3-0. It was Karthik who landed the decisive blow by smacking Pradeep for a six in the penultimate over to bring the equation down to 3. Dhoni calmly scored the last three runs in the final over to clean-sweep the series.
Sri Lanka though would be pleased with their bowlers for putting up a good show.
Sri Lanka fightback
Hardik (4) was out to a soft dismissal as he ramped one straight to the 'keeper. He smashed his bat into the turf as he went back to the pavilion. Manish Pandey, though, smashed Shanaka for a couple of fours to bring the equation down to 28 off 24 balls.
But just when the game was slipping away from Sri Lanka's grasp, Chameera induced Manish to edge one onto the stumps. Poor technique from him. Spirited fightback from the visitors though.
Unlucky Iyer
Oh, Iyer has got out in an unlucky fashion. Manish smashed one back at Dananjaya, who got a fingertip on it and Iyer found himself short. Can the tourists still eke out a win? 53 needed off 38.
Iyer lands crucial blow
For a while, Sri Lanka kept themselves in the hunt with tight bowling and fielding. However, just in the nick of time, Iyer lifted Shanaka for a six to bring the equation down to 64 off 48 balls.
Sri Lanka snare 'Hitman'
Do we still have a game on the cards? Rohit, the Hitman, has been dismissed. And Sri Lanka would breathe a sigh of relief as he has been in splendid form against them. He just couldn't keep the pull down as Shanaka picked up a wicket.
Rahul dislodged
Dananjaya troubled Rohit with the googly in the first over. However, the Indian captain continued to find the stands as he smacked the same bowler for the maximum with a sweetly timed loft in the third over.
Chameera then gave the tourists some joy as he prised out Rahul LBW. The Indian opener took the review but turned out to be umpire's call.
Disappointing show
Siraj struggled in his first international match. And he has struggled in his second game too. Dananjaya and Shanaka smacked the young seamer for 18 runs off the final over to pilot the tourists to 135 for 7.
Other than that most of the batsmen just struggled to make vital contributions in good conditions for batting. All of the Indian bowlers picked up at least a wicket. Very disappointing show by the Lankans as they kept finding the fielders. India will fancy their chances of whitewashing the visitors.
